Privacy Policy – Moment by Vine Hands

Moment is built on a simple commitment: what you share here stays here. This policy explains clearly what we collect, what we don't, and how your experience is kept private.

1. What We Collect

Your first name (optional). If you enter your name on the welcome screen, it is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It is never sent to our servers or stored in any database. It exists only on your device to personalize your experience.

Your message. When you submit a moment, your message is sent to our server to generate a response. It is passed directly to the OpenAI API and is not stored, logged, or retained by us in any form.

Anonymous usage metadata (optional, off by default). If logging is enabled on a given deployment, we may collect the following non-identifying metadata about each submission:

Approximate word count of your message
Time of day (morning, afternoon, or evening)
Whether a response was successfully generated
Your first name, if you provided one

      We never store the content of your message or the AI-generated response. What you share is not read, retained, or reviewed by us.
    

2. What We Do Not Collect

Your message text or the content of your reflection
Your email address
Your location, IP address, or device identifiers
Any account credentials (no account is required)
Any payment or financial information

3. How Your Message Is Processed

Your message is sent to the OpenAI API to generate a personalized scripture, prayer, and reflection. OpenAI processes your message according to their own privacy policy and data use terms. We do not instruct OpenAI to retain your message for training purposes. You can review OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy.

If you use the voice (speak) feature, your audio is sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription. The transcribed text is then processed the same way as typed input. The audio file is deleted from our server immediately after transcription.

4. Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to store your first name between visits, so you don't need to re-enter it. No other data is stored locally. You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or simply by leaving the name field blank on your next visit.

5. Third-Party Services

Moment uses the following third-party services:

OpenAI API — for generating AI responses and transcribing audio

We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or any other third-party data services.

6. Children's Privacy

Moment is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through the Service, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Moment after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
